Loop: find the best things for you

Can you think of a time when you didn’t know about something for longer than you should have? A restaurant that would have been great to hear of earlier, a piece of health information that you missed, or a push in the right direction to help you in your career? We usually hear about things once they become popular enough to hit the news, or through our social networks, but this is a slow and incomplete process. Loop uses machine learning to understand who you are as an individual, and tells you about things that are fun or useful for you personally.

Most recommendation systems fail because they operate within one category. It’s difficult to understand a person well based only on the movies that they’ve watched, the songs that they’ve listened to, or the products that they’ve bought. Loop uses cross-category information: the normal stuff like movies and music, but also weirder stuff – a niche website you love, a particular philosophy, or even an idea that you think is really important. Loop pinpoints who you are as an individual, and tells you about the things that are great for you.

— Save items that are interesting to you, and keep a record of the things you want to come back to and explore further.
— Do you know about something cool or important that you want to evangelize? Add new items to Loop and spread the word to other people. The algorithm will automatically direct your recommendation to the people who it’s most useful for.
